Early August Roundup.

I know my phone is never going to take photos as well as my camera.  That's what, in part, keeps this blog alive.  And if I someday do finally pull it together and buy a scanner that can do negatives there might be even more to post.  It's funny to think that with the rise of Instagram that blogs feel analog now.  With that said, here's some more crap I've been up to with all those guys I always hang out with.
Quick side note before you scroll down.  We had a friend accompany us to the river the other day.  On the hike down to the river spot she was asking me about skating.  She asked me, "so you guys go out skating most days and all day on the weekends?"  To which I replied yes.  And that was met with, "do any of you have girlfriends?" in a tone that implied that none of us would answer yes. This is a funny, accurate observation.  It's also a brief summation of me and many of my friends.  To paraphrase my friend Sam - skateboarding is longest relationship I've ever been in. (sorry if I butchered that Sam)  And it's not likely to start taking a back seat any time soon.  As long as my ankle heals.  Haha.

Summer time means backyard movies.

You thought there wouldn't be karaoke?  I think this guy sang Nickelback.  Weird, right?

We caught wind of a 90s themed hiphop dance party.  And we're never the ones to pass up an opportunity to dress up and trying to bum people out.  So of course we were there.  Minus the beard and tattoos this could almost be a picture of me from the late 90s.  I've owned both the jersey and hat about that long.  Brandon has probably had those Timbos that long too.

90s, maybe not.  Weird, yes.  Ace Dough Tribute.

This is how new dances are born.

Show your tits!

And from out of nowhere the dance party became a shirless dance party!

And pantsless if you're Danny wearing an elephant thong.

Don't be coy with me.

I can hear Nait laughing just looking at this photo.

Chris would be right in the middle of this.

Shred In Peace...

Got the news yesterday that my old friend Jeremiah Brooks passed away.  He was a staple of my time living in Boulder, CO.  He was an integral part of our skate crew, the Sweet Princes, and I spent every Saturday with him holding down the shop at Meta slanging skateboards to the kids.

I could go on for days with stories.  Skate sessions, other antics we got into, road trips, or trying to recount some awesome story Jam had told me over the years.  He was an awesome dude.  Even when I had moved away and only had the pleasure of seeing him once a year or so, it was like we had never missed a beat.  That wasn't just with me either, that was with everyone of his friends.

It's been rad seeing everyone post old photos on Instagram.  Nails and Louis have put up some gems and there is a Facebook page in his honor.  If you knew Jam, you should check it out.  And in that vein, here is Jam's video part from one of the old Meta videos.

The only way I can really sum this up is by saying, good night Sweet Prince.

Dudebarn, monthly.

It's come to this.  Monthly updates.  So much for timely recaps of shenanigans.  If anyone still looks at this blog I think you'll enjoy this batch.

True to form, summer weather started promptly on July 1.  That always makes for an interesting 4th of July.  People are ready to drink beer in the sun all day and let loose.  Between our camping mission and BBQing I'd say the 4th was an all around success.  Then, add in some karaoke (of course) and bands playing in a bag store and you know we've been having fun.

As a side note, my friend Jen recently wrote a blog post lamenting the lack of mini ramps around these days.  I count 4 different ramps in this post.  We just need to go skating more Jen!

Coastal journey.

That one rock.

Because if you don't camp, the terrorists have won.

Mini, mini.  It's so small, mellow, and fun that it kind of ruins every other ramp.  Or least makes them feel like a vert ramp.

4th of July BBQ #2.  More face painting was happening than skating.

Net jump challenge.  This is a make.

This is not.

Chris got it the try after this.

Rooftops.

Slammer sighting!  At the Slammer bar of course.

Oh hey random dog, you chilling?

Ramp shredding in SE.

Back at the barn.  Evening shredding with Alex.

Why not try to grind off the end, over the trash can to that plywood?  This didn't end up nearly as bad as it looks.

Broken.

You know there was karaoke.  Cheyne crushing it.

I think I got our whole karaoke crew in one photo!

Dropping knowledge on your college.

Then this happens.  But unlike Chopsticks this won't get you kicked out at this spot.

yuuuuuht.

I'm not sure why this event was happening, but stoked that White Woman was playing at the Chrome Bag store.

Shirtless band, shirtless crowd.

When the mic gets dropped who else would pick it up?

Who doesn't want to adventure around in a '62 Suburban?

Good times have been happening despite the reluctance of summer weather really starting.  It's the same every year.  When August hits and it's 85 degrees and we're floating in one of the rivers nearby, the gloom of June will seem like a distant dream.  Here's a slice of the recent awesome.

Portland is not scenic.  Please don't move here.

I had the pleasure recently of spending a few days in LA with Andreas.  Work trips that double as fun times with friends are always a good thing.  Over this past weekend, Andreas was hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.  He's banged up with several broken bones.  But he's in good enough spirits to get his lady to send a thumbs up photo from the hospital.  Please send some good vibes Andreas's way.  Heal up soon dude!  We all love you.

Chicken licker.

Evil looking Brooke.

Fire master, Pat.

Definitely safe.

Blurry Kyle and lurking Pat.

Best Friday night in a long time ripping around in Nicole and Kharma's '62 GMC Suburban.

DDTB!

Why not take it to Mt Tabor.

Watching the fog rise.

The #campvibes are heavy in this one!
