ASR/SD

The only good part of leaving PDX at 7 am is the view of Mt. Hood without clouds. If I had maybe 5-10 more minutes of light this would have been the most epic shot.

adidas threw an event for Tim O'Connor for the release of his new shoe. We got a bunch of his friends together and roasted him. It was amazingly funny. The open bar was pretty amazing as well.

No one was safe from Nieratko.

Tim, his wife Jody, all of her sisters (Jeanne Marie, Olivia, and Joanne), and Stefan.

All the nights in town blur together. This is the night we had sushi. Good stuff at Nobu. That thing on the left is a big chunk of bamboo that held our sake.
This fish tail was meant to be decoration. Andrew almost ate it for real and then Brett gave him shit and pretended to eat it.

Then he tried to force it on Matt.

I saw this champ somewhere along the way. I have no idea whether this is a guy or girl. But look at that get-up. Huge hair, beaded rat tail, shell belt, and a huge jug of water... WTF.

Ended up at Kansas City BBQ, which is featured in a little motion picture known as Top Gun. It is now my second favorite bar in SD behind the Jewel Box. Sadly I never made it to the Jewel Box this trip.

This photo shows Goose and Maverick singing in the bar.

Must be good luck to leave your hat here. Maybe it's so you don't end up like Goose.

Apparently Jordan is now a chick.

Jess was window shopping for his family.

Tim and Jascha.

Me, Jody, Ricarda, and Jeanne Marie holding it down at the beach bar.

Went to a party last Saturday night....

Friday night saw the Mean Jeans opening for the headlining Underground Railroad to Candyland. This brought everyone down to Ground Kontrol including Shawn and Brandon.

Andrew was once in a Judas Priest cover band (or was it a tribute band... Andrew?) called Hugest Feast.

This tall, sunglass wearing front man was an interesting member of Underground Railroad to Candyland. He was manning the merch table until the first song, then he sprung up with mic in hand shouting random backup vocals. Meanwhile the real frontman, Todd C., was off to the right doing his thing. There was also a guy who only played 1 tom, a high hat, and a tambourine. Regardless, they still rocked.

Bouncy front guy had some good props like this pac man balaclava thing.

Picture from the floor.

Checking the results.

Went to this party last Saturday night...
Here's the dance floor. After I left Andrew suffered a thumb injury due to a dance move gone wrong. The thing he was most bummed out about - he injured his shotgunning thumb.

On the way home from the party I saw this perfectly good looking waffle on the sidewalk with only one bite out of the corner. Seemed like a waste of a good waffle.

Sunday afternoon laziness. Verg posted up with Max.

I went snowboarding for the first time in 5 years on Sunday night with Ethan. It was a good time. Snowboarding makes my knees ache now though. Ethan had us stop at an awesome restaurant on the way home. Delicious mac n cheese and Robocop on TV.

The good old hockey game.

If you've never head of Stompin' Tom Connors I suggest checking out his good ol' Canadian folk/country. He sings the penultimate hockey song which I can only describe as the second national anthem of Canada. On that note we went to a Winterhawks' game.

This dude was huge.

Apparently too loud for this little guy.

Post-game gathering at my house. Brandon with the dual thumb opening.

Adriel and Kara getting in on the fun.

PJ was in town from Laramie, WY. He put back quite a few beers without a thought due to the altitude, but it only took one cigarette for him to break out the inhaler.

Amy got so frustrated with trying the thumb trick that she smashed a beer on the ground. Verg's response? "Wait, there's beer in that beer."

School lunch victim.

Kyle was loaded and still winning arm wrestling.

We got a sunny Sunday and went on a skate mission. But of course ended up a shitty spot. I got bored and artsy.

Potluck at Kyle and Lucy's. Kyle and his ambrosia salad.

Friday night in Portland the Mean Jeans are playing at Ground Kontrol with Todd C.'s (of F.Y.P) new band the Underground Railroad to Candyland. Sounds like an awesome time to me. See you there or look for the photos here.

Anyone want to go snowboarding this weekend?

45s and hungover in 2002

Today I ended up at a record store in St. Johns scouting locations for our catalog photo shoot and while waiting for the photographer to show up I couldn't help but dig through the records. So much good stuff. But I couldn't leave without this gem.

Also today I received this awesome email from my good friend Chris Fitzpatrick:
george
i was digging through some stuff and found this photo of you. damn you look good, and real happy, especially that i just took a picture of you after you threw-up. we had not even driven any where you sat in the car and had to get out. bang.
i got the plum tree photo, and i like it a lot.
as far as ASR is concerned. there is a possibility that i will head down there. but it is still tentative.
SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!! man college was fun. talk to you later.
-chris

So that's me after a night of hanging out with Jesse Green in Ocean Beach. Puke on the sidewalk, feeling like shit. Amy's comment was that I still have a lot of those clothes and still wear them. I guess not much has changed in almost 6 years.

Self-Titled

Trying to do more photo-ing, I borrowed an idea about a photo exchange program. The concept is simple. Send out a bunch of photos to friends who like to take photos and then they send me a photo back. And from there it goes back an forth and hopefully spreads to other friends. Then we're all taking more photos and getting cool mail. The guy I borrowed the idea from has a blog with all the photos he gets posted up. Head over and check out my contribution to film por vida. Hit me up if you want in!

Pat had a premiere at Dunes for the Coda video. It was fun times.

Pat was wearing drink tickets like a scarf. The tickets were good for a beer but the genius bar didn't have a back up keg of the 1 beer, Rainier, that they have on tap.

The warm up for the video was some Queen live performance.

Dunes is one of the smallest bars I've been to and every inch of it is full of seating including these front row disco ball seats.

As I was writing this in the condensation in the window Brandon was starting to do the same thing then looked up and saw me doing it. Great minds think alike.

I stayed in on New Year's Eve because Amy was sick and it would be mean to go out and party while she chilled at home in bed alone. So on New Year's Day I was about the only person I know who was fired up to go take advantage of the not rainy weather. I went on a bike ride and shot some photos.

While riding I got a call from Verg saying that the crew he was out with from the night before woke up and started the party again. They were nearby so I wanted to check out the chaos.
This was late afternoon after hours of Mimosas. Jenny was out cold the entire time I was there. Kotar and Nikki were going strong.

This guy was in the other room, passed out with his hand in his pants. Nice one.

I then got the cold Amy had on New Year's and so I didn't do much all week. Saturday night a couple friends came by early for some foosball. Andrew and I decided to try and capture the thumb shotgun technique. We have dozens of photos of trying to work out the timing and another 10 or so of shooting photos of each other's cameras to see whose has the shortest shutter lag. But they're really only funny to me and Andrew.
Here Andrew lines it up.

Success!
